The Magic Spell & Meera: Once upon a time, a beautiful girl named Meera was born to a famous priest. As she grew up, her father worried about finding her a husband. One day, three young men came to the father, each asking to marry Meera. Each one said they would kill themselves if Mandaravati was married to anyone else. To avoid any tragedy, the father decided not to marry her off to any of them.
Sadly, one day Meera got very sick and died. The three young men were very sad and decided to cremate her body together. One of them stayed at the cremation ground and slept on Meera’s ashes. The second one took her bones to the holy Ganges River. The third became a wanderer and traveled far and wide.
During his travels, the third young man came to a wise Brahmin’s house. The Brahmin had a special book with a spell to bring people back to life. The young man secretly took the book at night and hurried back to the cremation ground. By then, the second young man had returned from the Ganges with holy water, and the first one was still there, sleeping on the ashes.
With the help of the other two, the third young man read the spell (magical mantra) from the book, and suddenly, Meera was alive again! The three young men then started to argue about who should marry her, each saying it was because of his effort that she came back to life.
Now the question: “Who among the three young men should marry Meera?”
Ans: “The one who brought her back to life with the spell is like a father to her. The one who took her bones to the Ganges showed love like a son. But the one who stayed with her ashes out of pure love should be her husband.”
